Cat fighting for life after being shot twice and dragging herself home

A rescue cat who dragged herself home using her front paws after being shot in the spine is fighting for her life.

Owner Tasha Venn found little Maybel on the front doorstep of her new home in the Forest of Dean before 8am on Thursday morning and thought she had broken her leg.

But when she took Maybel to the vets an X-Ray revealed that her beloved pet had been shot twice.

There was one shot near to the heart and a second one to the bottom of her spine and the vet believes an operation to remove the bullets could cause more harm than good says Tasha.

“She can’t stand on her back legs but has feeling in them,” said Tasha, who brought Maybel to Vine Tree vets where on Thursday night she was awake and conscious but in a lot of pain.

“Somehow she managed to drag her self back home with just her front feet and was found out the back of my door. She wasn’t moving and at first I thought she had broken her leg.

"The vet thought broken pelvis until the X-ray when they saw the bullets.

“We rescued Maybel and her brother at 10 weeks old,” said Tasha who also has two dogs.

“They were going to be throw out in a box on the side off a road, She’s come along way in her short life. She’s full off joy and love for my household. We’re all gutted but trying to hope tor the best.”
